CBD 101: Full-Spectrum vs Broad-Spectrum vs Isolate
Three Types, One Goal
Every CBD product on our shelves falls into one of three categories: full-spectrum, broad-spectrum, or isolate. Understanding the difference helps you choose the right product for your needs.
Full-Spectrum
Full-spectrum CBD retains all of the naturally occurring compounds found in the hemp plant — including trace amounts of THC (legally capped at 0.3% or less). Many people prefer full-spectrum for the "entourage effect," where cannabinoids and terpenes are believed to work better together than in isolation.
Broad-Spectrum
Broad-spectrum CBD offers a middle ground: it retains many of the same compounds as full-spectrum, but the THC is removed entirely during processing. This is a great choice if you want the entourage effect without any risk of trace THC.
Isolate
CBD isolate is pure CBD — typically 99% or higher — with all other plant compounds removed. It's flavorless, odorless, and contains zero THC, making it the most discreet and precise option.
Which Should You Choose?
- Full-spectrum: best if you want the full plant profile and aren't concerned about trace THC
- Broad-spectrum: best if you want the entourage effect with zero THC
- Isolate: best if you want maximum discretion or are extremely sensitive to other compounds
